Anastais Orengo Anastasia Orengo- Student

My name is Anastasia Orengo and I am an 8th term chiropractic student. I am a single mom who loves keeping busy both at home and in school. I have been an active member in this campus working in the financial aid, student services, and communications department. I am a proud member of SICA, SACA, Medicinal Herb Club, Healing Hands of Humanity, and SCCA. Last year, I kept myself busy organizing the 7th Annual Spring into Health Fair. This year, I have been working on making this trip a success. I want to help the people of Bolivia and bring them much needed chiropractic care as others have done in the past years from our school. It will be an opportunity of a lifetime and I feel blessed to be able to be a part of it.

Mireya Hernandez Mireya Hernandez - Student

A little about me…I was born and raised in northern California. After high school I decided to move down south and attend Cal State Long Beach where I majored in Kinesiology and received my degree in 2004. Currently I am a 6th term student at SCUHS which means I’m a more than half way done. I plan to work as an associate after school for a few years and eventually open up my own practice somewhere in the LA area. On my spare time I enjoy watching basketball, especially the Clipper games. Besides basketball I enjoy working out and listening to music.

Katherine Lyn Katherine Lyn - Student

I’m a 6th term student who grew up in Toronto, Ontario Canada. Growing up, I always had a passion for the health sciences. After a few short months of working for a chiropractor in high school I decided that this was definitely something I wanted to pursue. In 2004, I graduated from York University majoring in Kinesiology. Having all my prerequisites completed, I decided to make the long journey to California to attend SCUHS.I have a love for fitness and alternative health care. Back in Toronto, I worked as a personal trainer, and certified fitness consultant. I took a year off before coming to SCU to work full time as a corporate fitness center manager. Upon graduation from SCU, I plan on entering the Naturopathic program at SCNM in Arizona. I want my practice to have a focus on total body health where I can offer patients a larger variety of natural health care.My interests include going to the beach, reading, exercising, basketball, tennis and traveling. I am ecstatic about the trip to Bolivia and can’t wait for the invaluable experience.

Evan Mountford Evan Mountford- Student

Evan Mountford is 29 years old. He and Emily, his wife of 7 years, have two children: Rebecca (5) and Matthew (3). Evan describes his children as the joy of his life and drives from Sherman Oaks (1 hour away from school) so that Emily can manage the apartments they live at -allowing them to stretch their financial aid money and live in a safe area. Evan decided to become a Chiropractor shortly after serving a 2 year mission for his Church in Oregon. “It was like the heavens opened and someone hit me over the head” Evan said when he finally decided on the Chiropractic Profession. “I know that this is what God wants me to do with my life, and I’m really looking forward to finally getting out there and making a difference.”Evan helped found the school’s Toastmasters club, served as the club president for 1 year, and completed 2 terms as an ASB rep among other things, but most difficult of all is juggling his school and family activities. “It’s going to be hard for me and my family to be away the whole summer break, but Emily and I feel that the experience and knowledge gained will be well worth it. I just really appreciate those that are willing to help us get down there -for our sakes and for the people we’ll be helping out.”

Dustin Nabhan - Student

I am a true Arizona boy, born in Tucson and raised in Scottsdale and later the bordertown of Yuma. I come from a chiropractic family; my Uncle John Reichhardt recently retired from the profession after practicing for over 30 years in Estes Park, Colorado. I was raised by my mother to understand how important nutrition and exercise are to overall wellness and happiness. I graduated cum laude in Physiology from the University of Arizona in 2005. During my time at U of A, I a curiosity in alternative medicine while volunteering as a research assistant at the Program for Integrative Medicine. Since attending SCUHS, I have become more interested in the effects of exercise on wellness. I am a NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and am currently employed by Pro Results LLC as a personal trainer. Personal Training allows me to use my background education in Physiology and my Chiropractic understanding of the body to help my clients change their bodies and their lives with exercise.

I think the Bolivia outreach trip is the perfect opportunity to help others and build professional experience.
